Well-made Play (2025) reimagines the four generations of the Po Hing Theatre, the predecessor of the Eaton Hotel, through a hybrid form that merges archival montage, site-specific performance, and contemporary hotel architecture. Drawing from fragments of historical images, Cantonese operas, and cinema ephemera, the work reconstructs a spectral timeline in which memory, disappearance, and cultural residue coexist.
The video was filmed across various spaces inside Eaton Hotel—a hotel room, a corridor, an event room, and a screen hall—where a performer encounters projections of these historical materials. Their movement becomes a dialogue with ghosts of the past, tracing how the urban landscape, politics, entertainment, and ritual have continuously shifted around Po Hing’s multiple iterations. Rather than a linear retelling, the piece stages an encounter: between performer and projection, between body and architecture, between what once was and what remains.
Well-made Play explores how cultural memory is never fixed, but constantly restaged, reframed, and reactivated through the spaces we inhabit today. The performer’s gestures—hesitations, touches, interruptions—operate as small acts of witnessing, allowing history to return not as nostalgia but as a living, moving presence.

《四幕劇》以跨媒介的方式重新想像普慶戲院(香港逸東酒店的前身)橫跨四代的歷史軌跡,將其視為一個持續被重寫、拆解與再生產的城市文化場域。作品透過檔案、舊粵劇與電影影像的蒙太奇、身體與空間的介入性行動,以及酒店建築的當代語境,建構出一個非線性的時序框架,使歷史材料在離散的時間結構中重新被感知與再現。
錄像拍攝於香港逸東酒店的多個空間——包括客房、走廊、活動室及放映廳——表演者在其中與投影影像相遇,以身體回應歷史幽影,追索普慶戲院在不同年代中與城市、政治、娛樂與儀式所發生的變遷。作品是一場歷史的另類再現:表演者與影像、身體與建築、過去與當下之間的互動。
《四幕劇》提出文化記憶從來不是固定的,而是在當代空間中持續被解構、重演與再度活化。表演者的每一個細微動作——停頓、觸碰、介入——都是見證的姿態,使歷史不以單純懷舊的方式回返,而是作為一種仍在流動、仍具生命的當下存在。
